Our Team

Our staff at The Coastal Prairie Conservancy are proud to spearhead the Nature’s Burial initiative as we launch our state’s first conservation cemetery. Our team brings together talents including natural land management, community engagement, fundraising, legal structuring, strategic planning, and funeral directing. We are honored to serve our community through this exciting initiative.

The Coastal Prairie Conservancy

The Coastal Prairie Conservancy, formerly the Katy Prairie Conservancy, is a nonprofit land trust sustaining a resilient Texas by preserving coastal prairies, wetlands, farms, and ranches to benefit people and wildlife forever. Since 1992, we has been working to protect Texas coastal prairies for people and wildlife.

We work to protect the coastal prairie for the incredible benefits these lands provide our community. Land conservation and restoration ensure healthier land, healthier watersheds, and healthier communities. Prairie grasses absorb and hold back floodwaters while sequestering carbon. Wetlands protect water quality and quantity. Diverse wildlife call the prairie home. Protecting coastal prairie now means current and future generations will continue to have access to these wide-open spaces.

Once lost, the Katy Prairie will never be replaced. And the loss of prairie lands – not just the Katy Prairie, but coastal prairie more broadly – threatens the well-being of both people and wildlife in the Houston region. Protected lands serve our greater community by providing opportunities for people to connect with nature and linking current generations to their natural heritage.

The Coastal Prairie Conservancy now protects over 30,000 acres of coastal prairie in Texas. These lands are protected through three primary methods - conservation agreements, land sales, & land donations. And now, the Nature’s Burial initiative is another unique and lasting way that KPC is protecting prairie habitats in our region while also providing a living sanctuary where we can honor our loved ones.
